Dance Speak - S/T (7")
Dance Speak was the collaboration between Glen Nelson and Joe Vizvary from West Coast wavers Images In Vogue, who provide the dance, and Much Music personality Kim Clarke Champniss, who provides the speak. Champniss, an important figure in the 80s and 90s Canadian musical landscape, hosted the influential show City Limits, and was a notoriously controversial interviewer causing Marianne Faithfull, John Lydon, and the Bee Gees to walk out of interviews with him.
The combo only released 3 singles between 1986 and 1997, and the first one, which we offer here, co-produced/engineered by Dave "Rave" Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy), lands somewhere between Nightfall In Camp, early Eurythmics, and The Talking Heads, with the post-punk poetics of early Leos Carax films. Essential Canadiana.
