Life Garden - Songs From The Other Side of Emptiness (LP + 7")
Lullabies for Insomniacs presents a compilation from Arizonan band Life Garden. Songs from The Other Side of Emptiness features recordings from 1991-1995 that have never before been released on vinyl.
Life Garden (1989-1998) was a continuation of the post-industrial band Maybe Mental (1982-1987). They delved into an ineffable territory; what language failed to do their music realised. Their sound focused on creating a space that would transcend people to a beautiful, intense and mysterious world.
Their compositions evanescent beauty relies on the haunting vocals of Su Ling Oliphant, influenced by Eastern Indian ideas and Gregorian chant, her vocals coalesce with intense tribal rhythmic passages and dark soundscapes created by band members David Oliphant, Peter Ragan and Bill Yanok.
The LP and bonus 7inch includes music from the following bodies of work- Worlds Whirl Beneath The Sun Volume 1 (1990), Pry Open My Mouth With The Red Knife Of Heaven (1992) Seed (1993) and Ahitanaman (1995).
