V/A - Mississauga "Live" (LP)
Mississauga "Live" was the brainchild of home-studio whiz, country songwriter, lounge proprietor, and business impresario Roy Sluiter. More of an audio collage than a real live recording, the faux performances on this album were in fact recorded in Sluiter’s apartment over the course of a month. The album is a portrait of a small local scene; a group of misfits and fledgling garage rockers that all felt the pull of Sluiter’s charming gravity and fell into his orbit, playing his shows and recording for his label, Ratz Records. The diversity of sounds, ranging from parody country to heavy psychedelic rock are all centred around a feeling of freedom to express themselves without reserve, partly due to Sluiter’s liberal vision, but also due to his quick & dirty DIY recording process. A wild ride from start to finish, and truly the sound of an underground vibration in Mississauga in 1980. Essential Canadiana.
VG+ vintage copy with minor wear on the cover and a small warp that dnap.
